Nov 28, 2022

The recent Rugby crime rate according to police data for September has revealed the most vulnerable area in Rugby to be Rugby Town North (centre) which was named the area most susceptible to crime in Rugby.

The September report shows the number of crimes this area suffered during the period. Over 222 reported crimes were recorded during the calendar month.

When compared to the population, that works out to 14 crimes for every 1000 people living in the area. The data also show a concerning amount of violence and sexual offences, with 5 of these types of crime per 1000 residents.

The neighbourhood also had the highest rates of anti-social behaviour, public order, criminal damage, arson, and vehicle crime. The A426 leading to Newbold Road and Bilton Road in Rugby Town West had the 2nd highest rate, at 12 offences per 1000 residents. Coming in third was the area near the M6 in Rugby Rural North, which was 7 crimes per 1,000 people.

Close to the train station and along the A426 in Rural North had the highest rate of burglary in the area with less than 1 offence per 1000 individuals. On the other end of the scale, the safest area in Rugby according to the September reported Rugby crime rate, is Rugby Rural South. With less than 1 offence per 1000 residents.

There was generally a decrease in crime across the county except for Rugby North. In addition to the total reported incidents, there were 7 reported incidents of burglary. The figure is up by 0.1% compared to the previous month.

Rugby Town North is the most built-up area and closest to the town centre, and this could explain why it has the highest crime rate.
